Northern Valley Regional High School, Old Tappan, New Jersey
proudly presents our 48th All-School Musical Production on March 4, 5, & 6, 2011
To save her father’s life, a remarkable young woman sacrifices her freedom and becomes the captive of a hideous beast and his staff of enchanted objects. Forced together, the beauty and her doomed host reluctantly discover a love that may just remove the devastating curse placed on a handsome prince long ago in a far away land.
Based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, the stage version of “Disney's Beauty and the Beast” will challenge the school’s many talented crews with projects unlike any they have attempted beforemassive sets, enchanted costumes, and stunning special effects. Add in all of your favorite characters, the largest chorus ever attempted, child actors from the elementary schools, and a set of living gargoyles… and this promises to be the biggest production in Northern Valley history.
Director and designer John Housley once again joins conductor Curt Ebersole, vocal music director James Ruck and the entire staff of last year’s sold out production of “Sweeney Todd”.
Matinee and evening performances will be held on March 4, 5, 6, 2011. An Information Meeting for any students interested in joining the cast or crews will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010. Auditions for the show will be held in November. Tickets go on sale in December.

MATTHEW SCOTT (NVOT Class of '00) currently stars opposite Tom Wopat, Vanessa Williams, and Broadway legend Barbara Cook in SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM at The Roundabout Theatre. Though this is Matt's third Broadway show, this is the first role he has originated. He recently recorded the original cast album which goes on sale later this summer. When Matt was a student at Northern Valley he won three consecutive Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for Best Actor. One of those awards was for Franklin Sheppard in Sondheim's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG. It's a role he is currently reprising right now on Broadway. When rehearsing for that show Matt got introduced to the genius of Stephen Sondheim by listening to legendary cast albums of his shows. Matt has made history and now will be on one of those albums. Congratulations, Matt. You can find out more about Matt's current and future shows at his website: matt-scott.com.
